Lancaster Communications is a full-service communications company based in Vancouver, BC, specializing in marketing and media relations strategies for creative business and the arts. Company principal Emma Lancaster is a senior communications professional and bon vivant with 20 years’ experience in project management, marketing, event production, writing, editing, and media relations. Her responsibilities have included strategic communications planning; new media content and architecture development; tactical marketing planning and execution; public and media liaison; and fundraising. What this really means is that she likes to talk. A lot.

Clients past and present include DanceHouse, The Arts Club Theatre Company, the PuSh Festival, Magnetic North Theatre Festival, Vancouver Opera, UBC Opera Ensemble, The UBC School of Music, Boca del Lupo Theatre, LeftRight Minds, NOW Orchestra, Electric Company Theatre, Music in the Morning, BC Dairy Foundation, and Molson Canada, to name a few.

Things of which she is particularly proud include: mentoring numerous students she is now glad to call colleagues; starting Lancaster Communications; bringing Canada’s national theatre festival to Vancouver; being part of the very small arts team on the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Bid; increasing subscriptions at the Cultch by more than 300% over three seasons; and being part of the team that retired Vancouver Opera’s $1 million deficit.

In addition to her work with Lancaster Communications, she is a faculty member at Capilano University, where she teaches Marketing and Media Relations and various other things in the Arts and Entertainment Management program. Social media is a tool. A powerful tool, sure, but a tool nonetheless. We can show you how to use the resources that are out there to reach your existing audience, meet new people, further your brand, and get your message out. Do we believe that social media is all you need? Hell, no.
